Top Travel Tips
Welcome back to Bargain Babe and the next instalment of money saving tips! This weeks post will focus on one of my greatest passions in life...travelling! As a full time student with little time to work shifts at my part time job I have a very limited budget but still manage to get away a few times a year! Here are my top tips for going travelling on a limited budget!
Location
The location of your holiday is one of the most influencing factors on what you are likely to spend, my biggest tip is go somewhere obscure!! Travel destinations which are maybe not your first thought when deciding where to go can be a hugely rewarding and exciting experience as long as you do your research. A personal favourite destination is Gdansk in Poland! Me and five friends recently visited the beautiful city and accommodation, flights and spending money for three days amounted to only £150! More popular of destinations such as Paris will make a far more significant dent on your bank balance so go obscure and explore for less!
Accommodation
Where you stay whilst on holiday is often a determining factor of how enjoyable the experience is as well as how much the total spend amounts to. My top tip for accommodation whilst travelling is to book through a short-stay rental sight such as Air BnB, such websites allow individuals to advertise their homes for travellers at a fraction of the cost of a hotel and are often even cheaper than a hostel and far more comfortable!
Flights
The price you pay for flights can differ vastly depending on a variety of factors. The time of year, the city you fly from the time of day you fly and the airline you use all raise or lower the price you pay significantly. My top tip is to use a flight comparison app such as Kayak, super simple to use Kayak lets you enter any destination and date and compares hundreds of flights to give you the cheapest deal!
Food, Drink and Entertainment
The majority of your spending money whilst on your adventure is likely to go on food, drink and entertainment, to get the most for your money I suggest one thing...research, research, research! Review sights such as Trip Advisor and the Lonely Planet Guide are vital tools to use in the search for the most fantastic food and entertainment to fit your budget! Both include a handy key of '£' for cheap places all the way up to '££££' for the top end of the market so you can budget accordingly and not fall into the trap of going to mediocre fast food chains just to curb your spending.
